Traditions

Formal Attire

  • Hunting jacket in dark green with the colors of the hunt on the collar and engraved TCB buttons (if merited).
    The colors of the Three Creek Bassets are old gold with red piping.
  • Vest in old gold, canary or tattersall.
  • White shirt and stock tie fastened with plain stock pin. Ratcatcher for ladies, club stripe tie in hunt colors are suitable options.
  • Brown hunting cap or soft green cap with hunt logo
  • Khaki tan brush pants
  • Tan belt
  • Tan or brown gloves.

Annual Events


The Gold Cup
is held every spring on the third full weekend in march. Basset and Beagle packs from across the country are invited to participate in this field trial event. Packs meet on Saturday to enter then a formal ball and Calcutta auction are held that evening. The Gold Cup Stake takes place on Sunday morning when the hounds are hunted jointly and are evaluated by a pair of guest judges. The results are announced at the hunt brunch where awards are presented. Colors and other recognitions are also made at this gala affair.


Opening Hunt and Blessing of the Hounds
takes place at the beginning of the formal hunting season, normally toward the end of October or early November. The event is often held in conjunction with the Bridlespur foxhunt and is followed by a brunch.

 

The Tin Cup is a summer event that allows members to bring their pets out to compete for fun and prizes and to gather with their hunting friends during the off-season.

Hunt Night at Circus Flora is a fun group event where the Three Creek members and guests attend a performance of the Circus Flora followed by a private party on the back lot with the performers and crew.

Thanksgiving Hunt takes place on Thanksgiving morning and is followed by a special brunch.

Boxing Day is a traditional hunt on the day after Christmas.
